SISEMORE is: Paul Sisemore, Russell A. Farrow, David Wehner, & Mark Busto. Paul, formerly with Tampa, based Sugarspoon (MCA Records), and Russell had only jammed together at impromptu meetings in clubs and the like, but say they were excited to work together for the first time on this project. "The Disillusionment of Youth and the American Way" was recorded over the summer and fall of 2010 and released in the summer of 2011. "We wanted to move away from the more atmospheric sound Sugarspoon had been known for favouring a more direct, live feel for the new record", Sisemore said. The song, Weeds, from the album is now being heard regularly in the MTB music stream. |

The Ditchflowers (POP/ROCK) Led by singer-guitarist Brian Merrill (formerly of Barely Pink, Parade in Paris) and Ed Woltil (Mad for Electra, the Headlights) on vocals, keyboards and guitar, the Ditchflowers specialize in ultra-melodic pop-rock that revels in it...s Beatles/XTC/Beach Boys influence. Carried Away, the group's debut CD, made a number of year-end Best Release lists; the band's just released follow-up, Bird's Eye, delivers more seemingly effortless classic pop delights. The Ditchflowers have held a front row presence in the Tampa Bay music scene for a good chunk of the 21st century, and their newest album is likely to solidify that status in the years to come. Ricky Wilcox & The Moonsnakes (POP/ROCK) Former Deloris Telescope drummer/singer Ricky Wilcox surrenders to his power-pop loves, resulting in an engaging and intelligent mish-mash of Brit-pop, Americana, and early '80s Athens jangle. Comparisons to a Todd Rundgren-produced Let's Active or Smithereens are apt. A staple in the local music scene for decades, St Pete's, Ricky Wilcox, is now promoting his latest album he is calling Last Day On Planet Earth. He says it has a “loose theme of unknown factors (like) growing old, dying, spaceships…(and his) usual hodgepodge of rockretropowerpopicana”, whatever that means. He adds, “hopefully the vision is a little less diluted” as on his previous album, Monkeyshine. Ricky can be found on-line at www.rickywilcox.com and www.myspace.com/rickywilcox.

Liner notes on the CD make this claim: "The Blue Island Beer Club by no means condones nor encourages the use of mind-altering substances. Well, except for those whose minds might be substantially improved by them, and really, couldn't we all use a little loosening up now and again? So, come on, Have You A Taste!" |
