The
above list was certainly an
imperfect accounting of the best songs from the Tampa Bay
area for the year. Many selections in fact represented works
created years earlier. Many others that should have
been on the list, were not, for a variety of reasons.
However, as the first annual compilation, it was a
fair representation of music in the MTB collection.

More than a
two hundred
different songs
by Great Tampa Bay artists are heard
every day,
and this list changes daily Top 10 songs as ranked in the Great 48 above are normally
heard approximately once every 5 hours, next 15 songs every
7-1/2 hours, and the bottom tier songs every 10 hours.
Approximately 150 additional, unlisted songs -
including
NEW MUSIC -
out of a total of more than 400 in the MTB Music
Library are heard once or twice daily each.
Feature Artists, when scheduled, are heard once each
hour.
MTB is
expanding its pool of selections, now with more than
500 songs in the MTB Music Library,
and growing all the time.
"HOW
DO I GET MY SONGS ON MTB?"
MTB's most FAQ:
Answer - 3 different options - 1) Give MTB permission
in writing by
email, text or other means to rip or download your music
from links you provide. 2) Send an mp3 or
other standard format audio file by email for immediate
consideration with stated permission to include in the
on-line music programming. 3) Mail a CD or other hard
copy (cassette and reel to reel tapes and vinyl records all
accepted) media along with permission to stream to PO Box shown on
the Contact and Home Pages on this website. CDs also
become eligible for play in Feature Artist portion of
programming. Songs must be original compositions, or
artists submitting covers must have permission from authors
to record and distribute them for public performance
purposes. A specifically stated waiver of royalty
payment obligations is appreciated for each song submitted,
but not required for webplay. However those songs for
which waivers are granted are likely to receive favorable
positions in the playlist and increased exposure in the
music stream. Songs are
ranked on the playlist by a variety of criteria, including artist visibility
at bay area venues and in the press & other media (WMNF, TV,
etc), numbers of plays posted
on MySpace page and other online artist links, recording
quality and amount of studio production employed, or what
might be called professionalism, and other related factors
at the discretion of your streaming host. Artists who
get the most response in the guestbook on the Contact page
also tend to get more attention.
